Sundown, Self-Searching

Water ripples down the night
slow and thick
languid as ink
reflecting street lights, car lights
night sights – stars and moon.
Breezes, still warm, lift the leaves
as couples come and go,
bikers, chains rattling, whiz by
while I sit silent, still,
listening –
to hidden gardens rustling,
to frogs singong leaping,
to voices telling stories –
listening for me.

  1. Lovely song-sounds. Those frogs singsong leaping, the water rippling down the night. A lullaby. 🙂
