Rideau Sunrise

Mist rises from the melting snow
lingering, dancing
above still-brown grasses
sending smokey tendrils
reaching
between forest-bound trees
stretching ghosted arms
toward the streaked red sky
of early morning.
Reemereging lakes
glimpsed fleetingly
hide in the fog bank
vivid surprises
(liquid copper)
reflecting the ever changing
sunrise.

  1. Lovely! I especially like the descriptive quality of the line “sending smoky tendrils, reaching between forest-bound trees, stretching ghosted arms toward the streaked red sky of early morning. Fabulous!

  2. Such lovely images of nature reaching for sunrise. Applause for the liquid copper line, loved the surprise of it.
