In the Emptiness

It is the echoing
.           drip
of a tap in a deserted room,
The stifled
.           crash
of a door flung wide
with no one there,
The billowing of a curtain
.           whispering
in the shadows,
The blanketing
.           hush
of accumulated dust;
It is

.                               …Silence.

  1. The curtain billowing, the hush of the dust…strong visual imagery to go with the sounds.

  2. Your italic sound words work so well here. You managed to whisper the word ‘crash.’ And focussing on the sounds that make the quiet somehow quieter is brilliant! So so thoughtful!
